Biography | Daughter of the founder of the Standard Bank of Canada, Ethel Mary Brodie (1878-) published under her maiden name even after her marriage and the birth of her only child, Jessie Adeline Dick Staunton, in 1906. She attended Miss Champion's private girls' school and Morvyn House, the forerunner of Havergal Hall, until ill health forced her to study at home. Her only book, THE ROSE-COLOURED WORLD (1910), published simultaneously in Toronto and New York, is a collection of some of her short stories. A long-time resident of Toronto, Ethel supported suffragist causes. Her date and place of death remain unknown. |
