BC Labour Heritage Centre Oral History Collection

BC Labour Heritage Centre

This collection is comprised of video interviews conducted by volunteers of the BC Labour Heritage Centre Oral History Project. The collection includes full-length interviews with notable activists in British Columbia’s labour movement on topics ranging from experiences at work, picket lines, strikes and rallies, to organizing unions & negotiating and bargaining collective agreements. There are also shorter interviews based on historic labour events in BC. The collection includes memories from pre-World War II through to today, as well as reflections on the current state of the labour movement. It serves as a resource for labour history and general BC history, and an exploration of the intersection of issues like labour, work, politics, gender, race relations, economics, environment, and more. Interviews are conducted in English and primarily on video, with some audio-only interviews upon subject’s request. The project is ongoing and the collection will continue to be updated.
