Aldine Collection

Aldine digitized collection

The Wosk-McDonald Aldine Collection, held by SFU Special Collections & Rare Books since its donation in 1995, consists of more than 100 volumes from the press of Aldus Manutius (1452-1515), the foremost editor, printer, and publisher of the Italian Renaissance. Many of the volumes in the collection were published after Aldus’ death in 1515. In collaboration with Publishing@SFU, twenty-one Aldines produced between 1501 and 1515 have been digitized and are available here with descriptive metadata. The books include Greek, Latin and Italian editions, and represent the period during which Aldus, driven by his intellect, passion, and discipline, developed and perfected the innovations that would permanently transform the landscape of printing and publishing.
