Mahishasuramardini Cave

Description: Pallava. Relief of Vishnu asleep on the serpent Ananta, total. Located below the Ulakkannesvara Temple, this cave temple is attributed to the patronage of Narasimhavarman I Mahamalla (r. 630-ca. 668). The cave temple is named after one of its relief panels that depicts the goddess Durga, slayer of the buffalo demon.
