Biography | Born in Hartland, New Brunswick, Muriel Margaret Miller (1908-1987) is probably best known for her work on Bliss Carman. In 1931 she received the Douglas Gold Medal for her essay on Carman, and in 1936 she achieved an honorable mention from the Canadian Women's Press Club for her biography, BLISS CARMAN: A PORTRAIT (1935). Muriel graduated with a BA from the University of New Brunswick (1931) and earned her MA at the University of Toronto (1933). After marrying Julian Miner, she had two sons. Her works have been published variously under "Muriel Miller" and "Muriel Miner." In all, she published three biographies, a novel for children, a collection of biographical profiles, and wrote a play. |
