The photographs documented were taken during mountaineering expeditions and, to a lesser extent, during trips to Europe and the United States, sightseeing around Vancouver, and visits with friends and family.

The photographs documented were taken during mountaineering expeditions and, to a lesser extent, during trips to Europe and the United States, sightseeing around Vancouver, and visits with friends and family. The logbook is organized chronologically, and the information recorded includes date, location and subject matter of each photograph; the type of film and camera used; the speed, f number, focus, and filter used; as well as details regarding where film was purchased and developed, and how well it was developed. Information is included for images taken during first ascent expeditions at Joffre Peak (1957), Mount Fee (1958), and Ossa Mountain (1960), as well as various other mountaineering trips including, but not exclusive to, trips in the North Shore, Howe Sound, Tantalus Range, Garibaldi, Squamish, Kwoiek, Ross Lake, Mt. Baker, Mt. Victoria, Chilliwack Valley, and Skagit areas. There is not complete correspondence between the photographs listed in this notebook and the photographs digitized from the SFU Library collection - not all of the photographs digitized are recorded in the logbook and not all photographs recorded in the logbook are included in the collection.
