Description: The Black Skin Post (Dukt'ootl Gass) represents the famous Tlingit hero, Dukt'ootl. The event took place in a village long before the Ganaxteidi moved north to Klukwan. The human figure at the top of the post represents Dukt'ootl', the strong man. The sea lion forms the central part of the post. These scenes of resource gathering were initiated in order to fill some of the gaps left by earlier anthropologist and cultural observers among the Gitxsan. The Book Builders of 'Ksan also produced a volume on these collecting and processing practices titled Gathering what the Great Nature provided: food traditions of the Gitksan, by the people of 'Ksan.

Description: Welcome pole on the flats that Disappeared, or was stolen, in the late 1960's. There used to be two poles at the mouth of the river. One with its hands out and this one with its hands up. Every pole that is erected is supposed to face the water- the other pole was on the opposite side of the river (information provided by Gwa'yi community).
