Bill Smith was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He moved to British Columbia in 1970 and subsequently spent more than 40 years working as a commercial fisherman in Prince Rupert and the North Coast. In this interview, he discusses his early years in the industry when it was still booming and his later years when the industry was in decline.

John Jensen was a Danish-born union and community activist in Northwestern B.C. He was an active member of the Carpenters' Union and a delegate to the Kitimat and Terrace District Labour Council for 50 years. Ken MacLean was a member of International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 505 located in Prince Rupert for 25 years and never missed a union meeting. He held the position of Secretary Treasurer/Dispatcher for 12 years. During his time, MacLean saw the membership of the local union grow from 29 to over 400.
