Since the founding of the CFU there has been fraternal relations with the IWA. Many Indo-Canadians have worked in BC forests and logging mills. IWA President Jack Munro spoke at one of the first FWOC meetings. CFU President Raj Chouhan worked as an IWA member in a Fraser Valley Mill before founding the FWOC. CFU co-founder Harinder Mahil worked on staff for the IWA during the early years of the FWOC and CFU.

Farmworkers and domestic workers share a similar history of exclusion from provincial labour laws and this is a form of legislative (legal) discrimination and institutionalized racism.
