Raj's makes a formal statement of assault while on the Jensen Mushroom Farm picket line in the Fraser Valley, BC.

The letter describes the intimidation and threats by one RCMP Officer towards a group of women farm workers. Arriving late the Officer was responding to the physical assault of CFU President Raj Chouhan while walking the picket line at Jensen Mushroom Farm.

On March 20, 1981, ten workers at Country Farm Natural Foods reject the employers offer. Nineteen days later on April 8 the first CFU strike begins. This short report of the picket line at Richmond's Country Farm, include the only known pictures of UFW president Cesar Chavez joining the picket line and accompanied by Raj Chouhan and others.

Clive Lytle was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1937. He went to University for his Bachelors of Arts degree, and was recommended to apply for a research position at the BC Federation of Labour. He went on to hold various roles in the labour movement, producing communication and educational material for a number of organizations, including developing a Labour Studies program for Simon Fraser University. Clive passed away on October 27, 2016.

Sharon Yandle was born in 1941 in Vancouver, B.C. Raised in the East Side of Vancouver, Sharon spent the majority of her career as a freelance negotiator for various unions across the province, specializing in arbitration and "duty to accommodate". She also taught labour relations and collective bargaining for a time at the University of Victoria.

Jef Keighley was born in Vancouver, BC in 1950. He spent time working in Jamaica through the Canadian University Service Overseas. He worked in the automotive and construction industries before becoming involved in the Canadian Association of Industrial, Mechanical and Allied Workers [CAIMAW], which amalgamated with the Canadian Auto Workers Union [CAW]. He served as a national representative for the union and was heavily involved with the Solidarity

This is a secondary, follow-up interview with Ray Haynes. Ray provided the BCLHC with a number of materials (photos, newspaper articles, etc.) to digitize and archive, which much of this interview is based upon. In this interview, Ray reflects on his time at the BC Federation of Labour and tells stories about various characters, as well as detailing his activism in retirement.

John Shields was born and raised in New York City by Irish Catholic parents who were both union members. He pursued a life in the Catholic church clergy, but left after disagreement with the direction of the church. He moved to Vancouver and became a social worker, and continued his social activism, eventually becoming President of the B.C. Government Employees' Union from 1985- 1999. Jackie Ainsworth was born in Ontario, attending a year at the University of Carlton before joining the Anti-War Movement and moving out west to Vancouver. She is a founding member of the Association of University and College Employees [AUCE] as well as United Bank Workers [UBW] Local 2 of the Service, Office and Retail Workers' Union of Canada [SORWUC].
