This report stresses the importance of fertilizer and pesticide industries to China's future food security.

While we were considering our work plan for the second stage of the Working Group on Pollution Control, we reviewed the achievements made during the first stage. We also reviewed the suggestions proposed for Chinese government and the requirement set for the second stage work from the fifth meeting of the Council.

This paper highlights the issue of non-point pollution, focusing on chemical fertilizer use.
