CFU won a certification vote of Choi Mushroom Farm Ltd on December 28, 1983. The units was de-certified on July 16, 1985 due to an employer led vote. The CFU never achieved a first contract at the farm during two years of negotiating. During this time the employer fired many CFU members and was eventually found by the provincial BC LRB to have unjustly fired these workers. A detailed history of the relationship between original East Indian CFU members who certified the unit and the new recently hired Korean workers who applied for de-certification. Mr. Choi is a Korean mushroom grower who hired some of his relatives. This complaint concerns the firing of CFU members at the farm.

Bell Farms Ltd (CFU's first contract) 240 acres was sold and broken up into several smaller farms. The provincial BC LRB ruled that CFU retained successorship rights to Jagbar Farms 80 acres, but a new certification vote would be required at Columbia Farms. The CFU lost this vote on November 27, 1984.

The provincial BC LRB reversed its earlier decision of September 7, 1983 and granted the CFU successor status to Columbia Cranberry Company Ltd, and Jagbar Farms Ltd. The LRB did not recommend remediation at the time, and requested more hearings. A final decision was rendered on November 8, 1984, almost two years after the initial land sales from Bell Farms Ltd requiring new union certification votes.
