This interview mainly talks about Mary's father, Kihei Otsuji. Mary was separated from her father during the wartime and she is trying to gather information about him. She speaks in detail about her father and his devotion to Buddhism and other elements of Japanese culture.

Mary and Harry start by talking about the Otsuji family business prior to World War II. They had a hotel and two grocery stores. They would eventually return to Japan for a period of time, and wind up moving to Toronto. They compare the culture of Toronto Japanese community to the Vancouver Japanese community.

Tokuko discusses about working as a dressmaker in Vancouver. She designed and made clothes herself, and moved to Kelowna for a brief period of time. Discrimination and racism are themes of this interview.

Tapes contain two separate interviews: one with Mr. Obata and one with several unknown women. The women focus primarily on the experience of growing up where as Mr. Obata spends most of his time talking about Nisei and Sansei identity.
