English writer Kate Atkinson, perhaps best known for her Jackson Brodie mystery novels. Her first book in that series, Case Histories, was described by Stephen King as not just the best novel he'd read that year, but the best mystery of the decade. Her new book, the most ambitious and widely praised novel yet, is called Life After Life. Eleanor Wachtel spoke with her onstage at Harbourfront in Toronto.
