Description: Photo shows Darshan Singh Sangha, a former IWA organizer and B.C. voting rights activist from the 1930s and '40s, who returned to his native Indi in 1947, where he was elected as an member of the Punjab State Legislature or the Communist Party. Among his constituents, he was often known as Darshan Singh Canadian and recognized by the speaker of the Punjab Legislature as The Canadian. He was assassinated by Punjabi separatist militants in 1986.
