Looking south: a number of streetcars are running. Sikh men crossing the street, right foreground; carriage, centre left. Large block on corner is the Williams Building (with McDowell's drugstore), next is the Fairfield Building, then the post office. The Williams Building was called the MacKinnon Block till 1906; it housed the Masonic temple.
Track maintenance along Alexander
At the foot of Columbia a crew of Chinese men work on the railway tracks. In the background boxcars are visible (right) with the CPR depot beyond. Left of the depot the new post office and Winch Building are under construction and Spencer's department store is centre-right. In the foreground a horse is approaching and a carriage can be seen on Alexander.
