Biographical or Historical Note
John Mills was born in London. He grew up and was educated there before attending the University College of North Wales. Not being ready for that experience, he did time in the British Army before emigrating to Canada in the early 1950's. In this country he worked at various jobs including a stint on the DEW Line as a radar technician. He eventually returned to university, completing degrees at the University of British Columbia and Stanford. He began teaching at Simon Fraser in 1965. His essays and stories have appeared in Georgia Straight and West Review as well as in anthologies, and he has published four novels and an autobiography.
