This proposal is for the Canadian campaign of a consumer boycott of all California table grapes. Goals: Ban dangerous pesticides, Captan, Methyl Bromide, Dinoseb, Parathion and Phosdrin; establishment of joint UFW and grower testing program; free and fair elections for farmworkers. Describes cancer clusters in California rural towns, and media campaign with actor Martin Sheen. The CFU hosted Cesar Chavez, President of the United Farmworkers of America, and promoted the UFW's second major table grapes boycott. CFU held a press conference to announce the start of the Canadian boycott. Attending BC Federation of Labour President Art Kube, CLC Director of Organization Len Ruel, Father Jim Roberts, Cesar Chavez, and CFU Secretary Treasurer Sarwan Boal. The media conference was a success, attended by major electronic and print media.
