Description

The pieces on either side of the American Eagle are likely acanthus trim found on the side of the bowsprit of a ship. The eagle came from the stern-board. These were likely from the American gold prospectors ship, the Susan Sturgis, which was captured and burned by Chief Stilta in 1850.
