Description

Ken Smith in retirement. The former Mine-Mill director later organized Saskatchewan potash workers for the United Steelworkers, the Mine-Mill's rival for many years during the McCarthyist years and the left-right divisions in the labour movement that marked that period. Smith was recalling his and Mine-Mill's role in organizing the Peace Arch concerts featuring the popular African-American actor and singer, Paul Robeson, at the time (early 1950s) under a travel ban by his own country.
