Laborers pickets at post office

Members and supporters of Local 602 Construction and General Workers on strike against contracted-out cleaning service provider A & A Service at Canada Post, block vehicles from leaving main Vancouver Post Office in protest over company's action in hiring scabs in an action aimed at blocking union's efforts to win a first contract. The Local 602 strike and another strike by Canada Post which contracted-out cleaners in Toronto was in response to federal contracting-out of service jobs and the resulting reduction of wages from $12 an hour to $4.50.
