Description
Auto accessory workers picket outside Ziebart outlet in Burnaby. The members of the Service Employees International Union Local 244 set up pickets after a strike vote not supervised by the Industrial Relations Council which, as part of Bill 19, was being boycotted by labour. The company's first contract offer included no benefits; when it was rejected the company severely lowered the wage offer and added paltry benefits. The multi-million dollar corporation which offered rust proofing and sunroofs closed the outlet and redirected customers to other nearby facilities; the B.C. Federation of Labour slapped a hot edict on Ziebart.
