British Columbia has some 25,000,000 acres of rich lands available for the agricultural settler, with diversity of choice as to location and adaptability. Up to 160 acres may be pre-empted by a British citizen or by an alien who declares his intetion to become a citizen, for agricultural purposes only, conditional upon occupation, improvement to the extent of $10 an acre, and cultivation of at least 5 acres. Crown grant is obtainable in five years if conditions have been fulfilled. Aliens must secure naturalization before issue of grant. Lands to extent of between 40 and 640 acres may be purchased for agricultural purposes at a minimum price of $5 per acre for arable land and $2.50 per acre for other lands. Lands may be leased to an extent of not more than 640 acres for hay-cutting or for industrial purposes. Home-site leases not exceeding 20 acres may be obtained for personal occupation and cultivation. A dwelling must be built first year. Crown grant made at expiration of lease if conditions have been observed. Requirements as to British citizenship same as for pre-emptions. This is for benefit of fishermen, loggers, and others. Annual grazing permits are issued based on number of head ranged.
