All of these fine players are multi - instrumentalists, and their talents are matched or bettered by the enthusiasm with which they render their variegated repertoire of R&B, Rock, Jazz, & Blues. These guys love their work, - the "come to play"./ SWEET DICK AUGUST 10 - 12 Richard Newman is currently appearing in the White Rock Playhouse production of John Gray's 18 WHEELS. He is also the front-man for one of Vancouver's newest bands, SWEET DICK. Newman, keyboardist Drew Neville, and singer-guitarist Lonesome Cowboy Bert, have talked their friends Dan Smith, Bob Popowitch, and Peter Padden of SIX CYLINDER, into coming out to play in one of the silliest bands you'll ever hear. SWEET DICK plays an almost undefinable assortment of tunes, from 50s to 60s rock, to reggae. (hmm...) Be the first one on your block to see the crazies who are trying to popularize the slogan "STICK SWEET DICK IN YOUR EAR"./ B-SIDES AUGUST 13 - 15 Vancouver's favourite ska - reggae rockers, the B-SIDES, are back at the SAVOY for the first time since early spring. We would've had them back sooner, but they've been busy making new fans, from Vancouver Island, to the other side of the great divide. Nobody fills up a dance floor like the B-SIDES do, and they just keep getting better all the time. No one besides the B-SIDES can do it like they do./ BRIAN & THE LIARS AUGUST 17 - 22 The current trend towards revitalization of the music of yesteryear is turning the attentions of many fine musicians to the music they grew up with. BRIAN & THE LIARS must have grown up with their ears tuned to the tastiest offerings of their transistor radios, and big sisters' record libraries. From the Animals and Badfinger, to the Yardbirds and Zombies. If you thought you'd never hear your all-time favourite pop classics performed live - you were wrong.
