Sovereignty and recognition. In 1990, the Canadian Government sent 1,500 troops to Iraq and 4,500 troops to Mohawk lands. Oka Crisis. Kahnawake Conflict. The struggle continues. Special event. Everyone welcome! Western Canada Mohawk Speaking Tour, organized by Indigenous 1992 Networking Office -- Edmonton, Alberta. Traditional welcome by Lil'wat Nation singers and other First Nation Groups. Feast. Mohawk Nation speakers. Public question-and-answer forum. Dance. Place: Vancouver Indian Centre, 1607 East Hastings Street, Vancouver. Date: Friday, December 14, 1990. Time: 6:00 PM--doors open. 7:00 PM--traditional welcome of Spokespeople of the Mohawk Nation-Haudenosaunee Territory. Fundraiser dance by donation. Music by Squamish and Lil'Wat rock'n'roll bands.
