Description

Unite Against Racism Join With Other Communities In A March & Rally/ A broad based coalition of organisations and individuals have come together to address racist hatred in our communities. The coalition, COMMUNITIES AGAINST RACISM AND EXTREMISM, has organized a massive MARCH AND RALLY for SUNDAY JUNE 28th, meeting at 1:30pm at SUREY [sic] CENTRAL SKYTRAIN STATION and marching to BEAR CREEK PARK for a 3pm rally./ On January 4th, Nirmal Singh Gill was beaten to death by five white supremacists in a tragic racially motivated murder which occured on the grounds of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Surrey./ This march and rally is a way of expressing our solidarity as communities, raising awareness about the consequences of racial intolerance, and showing a strong force opposed to racism and hatred./ Members of the community who live and/or work in EAST VANCOUVER will come together at NOON on JUNE 28th at the BROADWAY SKYTRAIN to assemble and travel together, as a community united against racism, to the Surrey March and Rally. We feel that it is important to show, collectively, that our community in East Vancouver will not tolerate racism and white supremacists and that we stand united with other communities in addressing this issue./ Join Thousands of Others on June 28th in a March and Rally! Meet Us Sunday June 28th at 12:00 Noon at the Broadway Skytrain Station to travel together to the Surrey Rally!/ For further info, call 970-4352 or email eastvan@eudoramail.com/ Communities Against Racism and Extremism Endorsements: Alma Mater Society (UBC), Artists Against Racism, BC Federation of Labour, BASIC Hope Society, Burnaby Multicultural Association, Canadian Anti-Racism Education and Research Society, Canadian Jewish Congress, Colour Connected Against Racism, Student Resource Centre (UBC), Committee for Racial Justice, Communist League, International Socialists, Langara Student Society, Newton Community Festival, Options, Progressive Inter-Cultural Society, Rangeela Dance School, Simon Fraser Student Society, Socialism From Below Group, South Asian Youth Alliance, South Asian Women's Centre, SUCCESS, United Native Nations Society, University of Victoria Student Society, West Coast Coalition for Human Dignity, Young Socialists, YMCA, in addition to the Sikh community and many other ethnic organisations.
