Description
Art Sterritt making a bracelet at the 'Ksan workshop. Worn for centuries, the cuff bracelet has always been an important potlatch gifts and symbols of rank along the Northwest Coast. When contact with European settlers and travelers increased, bracelets were more often made from gold and silver coins that were hammered flat, cut into shape and then engraved with crest symbols. Today, the Northwest Coast cuff bracelet has evolved into one of the region's classic art forms.
