Description
David Milton and Sadie Mowatt performing a healing ceremony on Barlow Green. Ernest Hyzims drums behind David. Gitxsan healing shamans wear bearskin robes, aprons, and crowns of grizzly-bear claws. They also use a number of aids, including round rattles, skin drums, and charms. The shaman's rattle was used to call up power from other worlds. The rattle is round and usually plain. Carvings or decorations make the world of supernatural beings visible.
