Description: Carved wooden hat, with eagle crest depicted at peak of hat. Shaped like conventional woven hats of the Northwest Coast. Painted with orca form line and abalone inlay in eyes. Donated by Mrs. George (Thea) Heye, 1922.

Description: Eagle-Halibut Pole of Laay was carved by Oyee for Chief Laay of the Eagle tribe. It stood 55 ft tall when it was erected ca. 1870. This pole originally stood at Gwinwoḵ before a flood washed it downriver around 1900. The pole then stood at Git'iks before being purchased by the UBC Museum of Anthropology in 1947, where it is currently on display.

Description: The pieces on either side of the American Eagle are likely acanthus trim found on the side of the bowsprit of a ship. The eagle came from the stern-board. These were likely from the American gold prospectors ship, the Susan Sturgis, which was captured and burned by Chief Stilta in 1850.
